In my Soul Path Coaching sessions, I guide Yoga teachers and practitioners, spiritual seekers, and healers toward understanding your innate Soul Path using Vedic wisdom.     • What is Jyotisha?

      Jyotisha is a Sanskrit word that breaks down into two root words: "jyoti" and "ish". Jyoti means Light and Ish means Spirit. Jyotisha is the Light of the Spirit because it enables you to see yourself in your Highest Light.

      Jyotisha is an ancient Vedic system for understanding the soul's journey and life path. It uses astronomy (the sidereal sky) to map the sky at the time and place of your birth. This astronomical snapshot creates your Jyotisha birth chart.

      This is not the same as astrology! Jyotisha is an ancient Vedic science that uses the astronomical map as a spiritual tool for understanding your soul's journey. The heavenly bodies serve as a divine language of patterns, a way to read the deeper curriculum your soul chose for this lifetime.

      We do not worship the stars and planets nor do we think that they themselves are controlling your life. Rather, they reflect the deeper patterns, spiritual lessons, and life calling of your soul. Think of the Jyotisha chart as a sacred text written in astronomical symbols, revealing the meaning behind your experiences and the path toward your highest purpose.

      This astronomical map becomes a tool for spiritual guidance, showing what you're here to learn, transform, and ultimately offer to the world. It reveals how your challenges are preparing you for heart-centered service in the world and how to align with your soul's deepest calling.

      So while we use astronomical data to create a birth chart (which could seem to some to resemble astrology), Jyotisha is one of the Vedic healing modalities (along with Ayurveda and Vastu among others) and approaches this as a spiritual science for understanding your sacred purpose rather than a system for personality analysis or predictions.

      Jyotisha helps you to heal your perspective and your own mindset. It is said that the root of disease begins in the mind. Heal the mind, and you heal all.

    • How Will Jyotisha Soul Path Coaching Help Me?

    • How Is Jyotisha Different From Tropical Western Astrology?

      While both use the sky, the differences between Jyotisha and Topical Western Astrology are huge! Jyotisha is a Vedic healing modality for healing your perception of your own self and understanding the unique medicine you are here to bring to the world. Where Tropical Western Astrology has its origins in Babylonia, Egypt, and Greece and mainly focuses on planetary transits, personality analysis, and life situations such as relationships, career, finances, etc. Jyotisha's focus is on helping you to know and understand yourself and your spiritual path deeply.

      Both systems use your birthdate, birth time, and place of birth to calculate a birth chart, but the charts are very different in appearance, use, and how they are interpreted.

      Jyotisha is a Vedic system using coordinates in the Sidereal sky (aligning with astronomy), based on fixed star constellations called Nakshatras, as its focal point for creating the chart.

      Tropical Western Astrology uses Tropical coordinates (determined by North American seasons), based on the Spring Equinox determining the starting point of the zodiac sign Aries, as its focal point for creating the chart. The two systems vary greatly in calculations due to the wobble of the earth on its axis, known as the procession of the equinoxes.

      Jyotisha is an accurate astronomical representation of where the planets and other heavenly bodies were at the moment of your birth, whereas Tropical Western Astrology varies by about 24 degrees in its calculations. Jyotisha achieves its accuracy by calculating for the wobble of the earth on its axis. This calculation is called Ayanamsha.
